When Kayla + Chandler planned their mid-March wedding, I doubt they expected it would snow. But with Tennessee weather, I suppose it’s not THAT surprising. They’d planned an outdoor ceremony at The Loft at Howe Farms, but cold air and strong winds are a pretty good reason to move things indoors. And yes the secret garden vibe outside at The Loft is beautiful… but the interior is pretty dang stunning, too.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to love your backup option when you are planning an outdoor wedding! Kayla and Chandler chose really well, and their ceremony was stunning even though it wasn’t exactly what they’d planned. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start with the details, shall we?

Kayla’s dress had a beautiful mauve tint that shone through it when the light hit just right. I have never seen a dress quite like this one. I loved it!

Considering a first look with your bridesmaids? I can’t say I have ever been disappointed with one. And Kayla included her mom and grandmothers too! I LOVE their cute reactions to seeing her in her dress for the first time!

While the girls got ready in the bridal suite, Chandler and his guys hung out at the Bowtie Club. This is Howe Farms’ game room for groomsmen, and it was so cool to see these guys having so much fun before the wedding day festivities officially began!

Fun socks are pretty popular with grooms and groomsmen, and Chandler and his guys were excited to show theirs off! The Bowtie Club was truly full of laughter, and taking these photos was no exception.

If you didn’t take a picture on this pink couch, did you even get married at the Loft at Howe Farms?

Due to the unrelenting wind, Kayla + Chandler opted to have most of their photos inside (can you blame them?!) So we did their first look at the base of The Loft’s stunning spiral staircase. Such a beautiful moment!

Aaaaand we decided some of their portraits needed to happen here too.

Another thing I love about The Loft at Howe Farms? The exposed brick on the back wall. Perfect for a day like this when indoor portraits are a must!

Kayla + her bridesmaids made their bouquets using flowers from a couple of local grocery stores. Such an impressive DIY. They turned out great!

I loved the simple elegance of their ceremony setup.

Chandler’s dad officiated their ceremony, so I had to get a good photo of that. He did such a good job! It’s always so sweet and so much more personal when someone close to the couple officiates the wedding.

We braved the cold very briefly for some outdoor portraits after the ceremony!

From then on out… it was time for the party! But first, allow me to interrupt with some reception details.

For their first dance, Kayla and Chandler requested that all the couples in attendance join them on the dancefloor. It was especially sweet to see them dance alongside their parents, as well as their other family and friends.

Instead of smashing cake in one another’s faces during their cake cutting, Kayla + Chandler hosted a little competition. Guests could place money in either the “Mr” or “Mrs” jar, and whoever had the most money when the time was up got to smash cake in the other person’s face! I’ve never seen a couple do this before, and I loved the competitive twist they added to this tradition!

Ballon exits are quickly becoming one of my favorite new trends! I loved that guests turned on their phone flashlights for Kayla and Chandler as well.
